Kasza manna/farina is very popular and economical breakfast choice for people all around the world. And while this recipe could be eaten for breakfast, the sugar content makes it better suited for a quick and easy dessert. The simple combination of strawberries and rose water turns this regular old bowl of porridge into something a little more special.

Strawberry and Rose Water Topping Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 cups chopped strawberries (fresh or frozen)
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp rose water
  • 1/2 cup water

Farina Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups water or milk
  • 1/2 cup farina
  • 1/8 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1/8 tsp vanilla extract

Directions

To make topping, add 1/2 cup water and 1 tbsp sugar into a small pot over medium-high heat. Once sugar has dissolved, reduce to low heat and add strawberries. Cook for about 3 minutes. Then, add half of the rose water, stir, and taste. If it is not too floral for your taste, add remainder of the rose water, stir, and set aside.

To make farina, bring 2.5 cups of water or milk to a near boil. Remove from heat and add salt, sugar, and farina. Stir constantly from the moment you add farina, and place pot back on burner over low heat for 3 minutes. Remove from heat and pour farina into bowls. Spoon the strawberry rose mixture on top and serve immediately.

Smacznego!
